Wastewater
Wastewater collection and treatment continues to experience the challenges of old infrastructure, ever-expanding regulatory requirements, and economic pressures. Implementation of long-term control plans and development pressures create additional demands upon utilities and rate payers.
When faced with any or all of these factors, Whitaker Engineering uses planning, technology, and client participation to map out strategies for changing the challenges into opportunities. Whitaker Engineering’s excellent track record for developing a master plan for wastewater facilities or designing cost-effective solutions that minimize capital and operational costs has been established with its clients for several years.

Aquatics
Aquatic facilities have been great community assets over the years. Pools and fountains have offered enjoyment to people of all ages. Recently, facilities are focused on recreational activities such as splash pads and slides versus the traditional lap and diving pool facilities. Therefore, the older facilities do not meet current user expectations, resulting in diminished usage.
Communities are also frustrated and concerned about operational and maintenance of older facilities. Equipment, deck, and pool system problems are always occurring. It seems as if money is spent time after time, and still problems exist.
Fountains of all types add visual “pop” to plazas, parks, and open areas. The fountains can be interactive or strictly visual features with the soothing sound of falling water. Adding LED lighting creates an ever-changing visual landscape which engages the eye.
Whitaker Engineering Corporation helps our clients transform their aquatic and fountain facilities into attractive venues or create new ones that quickly become destination points for the community.
Stormwater
Stormwater systems are often a combination of older storm sewers, combined sewers, field tiles, and open ditches. Many facilities were designed using inadequate standards, causing undersized channels and pipes Older infrastructure have frequent failures. The results include flooding of homes and facilities, high maintenance costs, and more stormwater projects than the community can afford at one time.
Whitaker Engineering helps its clients understand how to correct or mitigate problems through planning, setting project priorities, locating funding, and designing projects to improve stormwater management. When FEMA issues arise, Whitaker Engineering helps its clients deal with regulatory and flood mapping issues.
Water
Water systems experience the challenges of old infrastructure, ever-expanding regulatory requirements, and economic pressures. Water distribution systems are constantly being challenged by leaks, freeze/thaw cycles, and droughts which cause breaks. Whitaker Engineering helps utilities identify ways to prevent or reduce water main breaks.
Low water pressure plagues within most water distribution systems. The cause of low water pressure is not always well understood. Are some water mains undersized or has the water demand changed? Are storage facilities located strategically located to meet demand? Whitaker Engineering is accomplished at conducting field tests and modeling water systems to select the right solution for the problem.
Treatment and raw water supply must also be evaluated for the future success. Have a conversation with Whitaker Engineering about your drinking water challenges.
